Police arrest man over Greenwith death, South Australia

A man has been arrested by detectives in relation to the discovery of a body yesterday at Greenwith.

Just before 7.30am yesterday (Monday 9 December), police were called to a house on Bowmore Court after reports of a man’s body having been found in the rear yard.

Since the discovery, detectives from Northern District CIB and Major Crime have been working with forensic specialists to establish the identity of the deceased and circumstances that led to his death.

A post-mortem examination conducted today, has determined the death of the 53-year-old from the Greenwith house as suspicious.

The man’s death has been declared a Major Crime and the investigation is being led by Major Crime Investigation Branch.

As a result of enquires conducted this afternoon detectives from Major Crime and Northern District CIB attended an address at Ridgehaven where they arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

He is currently assisting detectives with their enquires and it is expected he will be formally charged with murder later today.

Police would like to reassure the public that this was not a random incident and the victim and the accused are known to each other.
