Police arrest two after north west warrants

Police from Mill Park Divisional Response Unit arrested two people following a number of warrants which were executed across the northern suburbs this week.

The warrants formed part of an ongoing drug operation targeting the cultivation of cannabis.

A 31-year-old South Morang man was arrested at a South Morang address on Wednesday (15 May) about 12.30pm.

He has been charged with cultivate a commercial quantity of drugs, possess and trafficking a drug of dependence, theft and weapons offences and proceeds of crime.

The second man, a 67-year-old man from Epping, was also arrested and has been charged with cultivate a commercial quantity of drugs, possess a drug of dependence and theft related offences.

Both men have been remanded to reappear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today (17 May).

The investigation remains ongoing.

Sergeant Dave Shannon from the Mill Park Divisional Response Unit said, “We conservatively estimate the overall street value of the drugs we have seized today to be estimated at over $1 million”.

“This is a significant win for both Victoria Police and the community and will place a considerable dent in the illicit performance enhancing drug trade across the state of Victoria, if not the country.”
