Police arrest two after pursuit with stolen car, South Australia

Police have arrested two people following a pursuit from West Lakes Shore to Salisbury North today.

Just before 11am on Monday 21 October police spotted a stolen blue Mazda sedan travelling east on West Lakes Boulevard towards Frederick Road. The car was not pursued and the Police Helicopter (PolAir) was called in to assist with finding the stolen car.

About fifteen minutes later, the stolen Mazda was spotted travelling west on Trimmer Parade and was followed covertly onto Frederick Road and Bower Road.

The stolen car failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Old Port Road and Bower Road and continued heading east on Grand Junction Road.

PolAir took over observations of the stolen car from the air as it travelled along Days Road and Regency Road before heading out to the northern suburbs via South Road.

Road spikes were successfully deployed on South Road puncturing two of the car’s tyres however the car continued north and then east on Grand Junction Road.

The stolen car lost one of its front tyres as it approached Montague Road along Main North Road but it still continued driving on its rim. The car was followed along McIntyre Road, Kings Road, Salisbury Highway and Waterloo Corner Road.

Road spikes were successfully deployed again on Diment Road where the car was then abandoned on the corner of Parallel Avenue after two more tyres were punctured.

A man and woman ran off from the car with patrols quickly locating the man who had jumped a fence into the rear yard of a home on Parallel Avenue.

The woman was located by a Dog Operations officer and PD Arnie who tracked her to the yard of a home on Virginia Circuit.

The Mazda was reported stolen from an Elizabeth address on Friday (18 October).

The man (driver) and woman (passenger) have been arrested and are currently being interviewed by police at Elizabeth Police Station.
