Police arrest two after stabbing in Narre Warren

Casey Crime Investigation Unit detectives are currently questioning a man following a stabbing iincident in a Narre Warren shopping centre last night.

Police were called to the Princes Highway shopping centre following reports of a stabbing in a department store at 5.30pm.

Investigators were told that security staff approached a man and a woman and had a converstaion with them about some property, in their trolley, that may not have been paid for.

The conversation escalated into an aggressive altercation with the woman allegedly producing a knife and slashing the arm of one of the security staff.

The pair then ran back through the store with the two security guards following.

The altercation continued with the woman allegedly lunging at one of the security officers, slashing his shirt.

A male customer went to the aid of the security officers and tackled the man while the female allegedly continued to threaten staff and customers.

A number of police units attended and arrested a 34-year-old Narre Warren South woman and a 39-year-old Noble Park man.

Both were conveyed to hospital for injuries sustained in the incident.

The woman remains in hospital with the man being released into police custody earlier this morning.

A third person, a security guard, was also conveyed to hospital with a stab wound.

Detectives are currently interviewing the Noble Park man over the incident and he is expected to appear at the Dandenoing Magistrates Court later this morning.
