Police arrest woman after Ascot Vale aggravated burglary

Police have made a speedy arrest following reports of an aggravated burglary in Ascot Vale this morning.

It is alleged two occupants of a Portal Street residence, aged 29 and 45, were awoken by noise and observed a woman climbing out of their kitchen window about 8am.

The woman allegedly stole car keys and fled the scene on foot.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police searched the area with the assistance of the Dog Squad before locating the woman on the roof of the Portal Street premises about 8.45am.

The 32-year-old Ascot Vale woman was arrested without incident and has been charged with aggravated burglary and attempted theft of motor vehicle.

She has been bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on 12 September.
