Police arrest woman after Sorrento pedestrian collision

Somerville Highway Patrol officers arrested a woman after a collision in Sorrento last night.

It’s alleged the woman was driving a dark grey Mazda hatchback when it collided with a pedestrian on Melbourne Road on Tuesday, 28 December about 8pm.

The woman has then allegedly failed to stop and driven away from the scene.

Police located the vehicle a short time later at the intersection of St Pauls and Melbourne roads.

Following a search of the area, police arrested a 33-year-old Sorrento woman.

She was taken to a police station where she allegedly returned an evidentiary breath test of 0.149.

Her driver’s licence was immediately suspended and she’s expected to be charged on summons with various driving offences.

The pedestrian, a 16-year-old Brighton boy, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
