Police arrested a woman after a man was located with serious injuries in South Yarra this morning.
Emergency services were called to reports of a man with head injuries on Malvern Road about 12.20am.
Officers were told the man was allegedly assaulted before being stabbed.
The yet-to-be-identified victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives later executed a search warrant at a property on nearby Howitt Street and arrested a woman about 10.30am.
The 38-year-old South Yarra woman remains in custody.
The circumstances surrounding the incident continue to be investigated.
It is believed the parties are known to each other.
