Major Crime Detectives have arrested a woman for allegedly attempting to threaten a person involved in judicial proceedings, namely the victim of an unlawful detention incident that occurred at Seaford earlier this year.
In August 2021, Detectives from Major Crime Investigation Branch arrested three men for the unlawful detention and aggravated assault of a 33-year-old man that occurred at Seaford on 15 July 2021.
All three men, a 31-year-old from Seaford, a 33-year-old from Aldinga and a 43-year-old from Northfield, appeared in court and were remanded in custody.
Police will allege that an associate of one of those men attempted to locate, threaten and/or harm the victim in an effort to have him withdraw the charges.
On Friday 5 November, Detectives arrested a 34-year-old woman from Seaford for threatening a witness in a judicial proceeding. The woman has been refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
“The investigation into the murder of Robert Atkins is ongoing and this crime and the subsequent arrests by Major Crime detectives have occurred as a consequence of that investigation”, said Superintendent Des Bray, Officer In Charge of Major Crime Investigation Branch.
“The arrested woman is the wife of one of the offenders currently in custody for the unlawful detention and aggravated assault, and further arrests are likely.”
Police warn anyone who is contemplating interfering with witnesses that there is a penalty of up to 10 years imprisonment and a presumption against having bail.
