Police have charged 15 people and seized a number of weapons after a two-day operation across key areas of the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter region.
Operation Disrupt was established by the Police Transport Command North/Central to prevent and disrupt criminal activity in key areas of the public transport network and adjacent retail precincts.
Between 2am yesterday (Friday 16 October 2026) and 2am today (Saturday 17 October 2026), officers from the Police Transport Command North/Central executed the operation in Tuggerah Lakes, Wyong, Gosford and Newcastle.
As a result of the operation,
*15 people were arrested and charged with a total of 23 offences,
*26 person searches,
*15 bail compliance checks,
*39 rail infringements issued, and
*110 people were scanned during two knife scanning declarations, with two knives detected.
Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism Yasmin Catley said these results show NSW Police are out in force to keep our communities safe.
“15 arrests, 23 charges and two knives detected. This is solid, proactive policing in action.
“The Minns Government has just passed some of the toughest knife laws in the country, and those new laws will only strengthen the work of our cops in taking dangerous weapons out of our communities.
“Our police are doing an exceptional job, and we back them every day of the week.”
Operation Disrupt will continue.
