Police are calling for witnesses to an incident that occurred around 7pm on Friday night on the West Tamar Highway at Trevallyn. A black Toyota Hilux Utility was observed driving in a dangerous manner crossing lanes and nearly colliding with a vehicle travelling North towards Riverside.
A witness called police and the male driver aged in his 50s was located at an address in Riverside and taken into custody for road safety offences.
The man was charged with high range drink driving and bailed to appear in court at a later date.
Police would like to speak to the driver of the vehicle that was nearly collided with, or any other witnesses to come forward. Police are also requesting any witnesses who may have dash cam footage to come forward and contact Launceston Police on 131444.
