A driver has been charged following a fatal multi-vehicle crash on the state’s south coast earlier this year.
About 8am on Wednesday 10 June 2026, emergency services responded to the Princes Highway, near Mortimer Road, Falls Creek, about 12km south of Nowra, after reports of a crash.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and found that a car and two trucks had collided blocking the highway.
Both the driver of the car – a 62-year-old woman – and passenger – a 47-year-old man – died at the scene.
The driver of one truck – a 27-year-old man – was trapped in the vehicle before being freed by emergency services.
He was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to St George Hospital in a serious condition.
The driver of the second truck – a 73-year-old man – was transported to Wollongong Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police established a crime scene and officers attached to Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.
As a result of the investigation the 73-year-old driver has been charged today (Thursday 10 September 2026), with three offences:
- Dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous (two counts)
- Negligent driving (occasioning death)
The man will appear before Nowra Local Court on Tuesday 3 November 2026.
