Police charge driver over fatal crash – Central Coast

A man has been charged by Crash Investigators following a fatal crash on the Central Coast last month.

About 3.25pm Thursday 26 October 2023, emergency services were called to Woy Woy Road, Kariong, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

At the scene, officers from Brisbane Water Police District found a van and utility had collided.

The driver of the van, a 28-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.

The driver of the utility, a 64-year-old man, was taken to Gosford Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A crime scene was established, and officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit launched an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries police issued a future court attendance notice to a 29-year-old man.

He was charged with negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving no death or grievous bodily harm, fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing death and cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle.

Police will allege in court the man was the driver of the sedan that caused the crash and then left the scene without assisting either injured driver or contacting emergency services.

He was granted bail to appear before Gosford Local Court on Monday 29 January 2024.
