Police charge man after 85-year-old woman allegedly indecently assaulted in Blayney

A man has been charged after an elderly woman was allegedly indecently assaulted during a break in at a retirement home in the state’s Central West.

It’s alleged, an 85-year-old woman was asleep in a unit of a retirement home on Adelaide Street, Blayney, about 11.40pm on Monday (11 February 2019), when she was woken by someone touching her.

The women saw a man in her room committing an act of indecency and challenged him.

The man left the room and the woman escorted him out of the unit before notifying police when she saw the man looking in her bedroom window.

Officers from Chifley Police District attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 41-year-old man at a Cowra home on Tuesday (11 February 2019).

He was taken to Cowra Police Station and charged with aggravated break & enter and commit serious indictable offence, sexually touch another person without consent, break & enter house and steal, receive property – theft, possess prohibited drug, and possess unregistered firearm.

These charges also relate to a break in at a commercial property in Blayney the same evening.

The man appeared at Bathurst Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 13 February 2019) and was refused bail to appear at the same court on Monday 8 April 2019.
