Police Charge Man After Assault – Hammondville

A man has been charged after an investigation into the alleged assault of another man at an aged-care facility in Sydney’s south-west yesterday evening.

About 9pm on Wednesday 17 June 2026, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command commenced an investigation after receiving a report of an assault at an aged care facility in Hammondville.

An 87-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head and facial injuries before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

Following inquiries, about 3pm today (Thursday 18 June 2026), police arrested a 69-year-old man at the facility.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).

The man was later taken to Liverpool Hospital where he remains under police guard.

The 69-year-old was refused bail to appear via a bedside hearing at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow (Friday 19 June 2026).
