Police charge man after assault of fellow inmate in Parklea

An associate of the Hells Angels outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) has been charged after a fellow inmate at a western Sydney correctional facility was found with significant injuries last month.

On Tuesday 30 June 2020, police received reports that a 51-year-old man was assaulted in his cell at a correctional centre in Parklea.

Following extensive inquiries, Strike Force Raptor detectives attended a correctional facility in Silverwater and arrested a 22-year-old man on Wednesday 23 July 2020.

He was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Police will allege in court that the man assaulted his fellow inmate in a cell resulting in that man sustaining multiple injuries to the face and neck.

The 22-year-old was refused bail and appeared at Parramatta Local Court via video link where he was formally bail refused.

He will reappear at the same court today (Tuesday 28 July 2020).

Investigations are ongoing.
