Police charge man after Carnegie aggravated burglary

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an aggravated burglary in Carnegie on Sunday 23 July.

It’s alleged 68-year-old occupant was confronted by the male offender in the kitchen and an altercation occurred, leaving the occupant temporarily knocked unconscious.

Police will allege the altercation continued and the offender sustained stab wounds to his upper chest and arms.

The occupant was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 31-year-old Carnegie man was taken to hospital under police guard and has since been charged with aggravated burglary and assault.

He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 1 August.
