Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man this morning following the death of a woman in Chelsea.
A 53-year-old Chelsea man was taken into custody near his home address this afternoon and has been charged with one count of murder.
The charge follows the discovery of the body of a 78-year-old Chelsea woman inside her Drinan Road home about 10.30am Saturday.
The parties are believed to be known to each other.
The man is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening.
