Police charge man after Cobden fatal collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision which claimed the life of a man in Cobden last Sunday.

Cobden Police arrested the 25-year-old man in Cobden about 4pm yesterday.

MCIU detectives charged the Cobden man with dangerous driving causing death, careless driving and failing to give way at a stop sign.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at the Warnambool Magistrates’ court on 14 June.

It is believed the two vehicles collided at the intersection of Bond Street and Cross Forest Road about 1.20am on 5 June.

An 18-year-old man, who was ejected from one of the vehicles, died at the scene.

Two other men from the same vehicle, aged 30 and 21-years-old, were transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The female driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution.
