Homicide Squad detectives charged a man following the death of a man in Croydon earlier this week.
Emergency services were called to reports of a dispute at the property on Penhyrn Avenue on Monday, 31 August about 2.10am.
A 79-year-old Croydon man was located deceased inside the property.
A 57-year-old Croydon man was arrested at the scene and was transported to hospital under police guard with non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives have today charged the man with one count of murder.
He will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
It is alleged the parties are known to one another.
