Police Charge Man After Fatal Crash – Bella Vista

A man has been charged following a fatal crash in Sydney’s north west earlier this year.

About 12.35pm Sunday 17 May 2026, emergency services were called to the intersection of Balmoral Road and T-Way, Bella Vista, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attended and found that a Nissan sedan and bus had collided.

The driver of the Nissan, a 52-year-old man, and two passengers, a 20-year-old man and an 87-year-old man, were trapped for a short time.

After being released from the car, all three were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the bus – a 62-year-old man – was also trapped.

He was freed from bus and treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Police established a crime scene and an investigation into the circumstance of the crash commenced.

About 7.30pm later that day (Sunday 17 May 2026), police were told the 87-year-old man had died in hospital.

Following inquiries, about 7.40pm yesterday (Tuesday 14 July 2026), officers attended a property in Colebee, where a 52-year-old man was served with a court notice.

The 53-year-old was charged with negligent driving (occasioning death) and cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle.

He was granted bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Thursday 3 September 2026.
