Police Charge Man After Fatal Crash – Ingleburn

A man has been charged following a fatal crash in Sydney’s south west earlier this week.

Shortly after 10.30pm on Wednesday 13 November 2024, emergency services were called to the Hume Motorway, at Ingleburn, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and found a utility and truck had collided.

The passenger of the utility – a 37-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he later died.

The driver – a 47-year-old man – was trapped for a short time before he was released and taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The truck driver – a 36-year-old man – was not injured.

Police established a crime scene, and an investigation commenced with the assistance of specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

Following investigations, the 47-year-old man was charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death – speed greater than 45km over limit.

He was refused bail and appeared before Campbelltown Local Court yesterday (Thursday 14 November 2024) where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Wednesday 8 January 2025.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
