Police Charge Man After Fatal Crash Near Yass

A man has been charged with multiple traffic offences after one person died and three were injured in a crash near Yass earlier this year.

Emergency services responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash shortly before 1.45pm Saturday 25 April 2026, at the intersection of Hume Highway and Yass Valley Way, Manton, 10km north of Yass.

Officers from The Hume Police District attended and found a sedan and a station wagon had collided.

A 69-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the sedan, died at the scene.

The driver, a 42-year-old man, and two passengers, a 38-year-old woman and a 70-year-old man, were taken to Canberra Hospital.

The driver of the station wagon, a 32-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries.

Following inquiries, the 42-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and not give way to vehicle (give way sign/line).

He will appear before Yass Local Court on Thursday 1 October 2026.
