Police charge man after fatal stabbing in Bellambi

A man will face court today charged after a fatal stabbing near Wollongong.

About 6.30pm (Sunday 18 December 2022), emergency services were called to Turner Esplanade, Bellambi, following reports of an assault.

On arrival, officers attached to Wollongong Police District were told two men had been involved in a fight, where a 52-year-old man was allegedly stabbed in the neck.

Police commenced CPR until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, the man died at the scene.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, a 51-year-old man was arrested at Tressider Place, Bellambi, about 10pm.

He was taken to Wollongong police station and charged with murder.

He was refused bail to appear in Wollongong Local Court today (Monday 19 December 2022).
