Police charge man after fleeing crash site in Northern Beaches

A man will appear in court today charged with mid-range drink driving and other driving offences in Sydney’s northern beaches yesterday.

About 8.15pm (Sunday 13 December 2020), officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command observed a white Holden Crewman utility doing a burnout on Rose Avenue, Wheeler Heights.

When police attempted to stop the Holden, the driver allegedly sped away.

Police located the Holden nearby on Kendal Crescent after it had crashed into a parked car, with the driver allegedly fleeing the scene.

After a short foot pursuit, police arrested the 18-year-old man in the backyard of a home. He underwent a roadside breath test, allegedly returning a positive result.

He was taken to Manly Police Station where a subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.131.

The Baulkham Hills man was charged with operate vehicle so driving wheel/s undergo loss of traction, not stop vehicle when directed to do so, not comply p1 licence-no P plates (class c), mid-range PCA, not give particulars to other driver, destroy or damage property, and enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

He was refused bail to appear in Manly Local Court today (Monday 14 December 2020).
