Armed Crime Squad detectives yesterday charged a man after an alleged kidnapping in West Footscray earlier this month.
Officers were called to an address on Sunshine Road following reports a woman was being held against her will about 12.30pm on Friday, 11 March.
A 23-year-old Elwood woman was liberated and conveyed to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Police, with the assistance of the Special Operations Group, arrested a 44-year-old West Footscray man outside the property.
He was charged with false imprisonment, rape, assault with weapon, intentionally cause injury and possess drug of dependence.
He was remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 17 June.
