Police charge man after Mount Waverley collision

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a 44-year-old man from Doveton after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Mount Waverley.

Investigators have been told a 77-year-old Mount Waverley man was crossing at the intersection of High Street and Leeds Road when he was struck about 9.30am on 6 November.

It is alleged the man was struck by a vehicle headed east on High Street.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver stopped at the scene and has been charged with dangerous driving cause serious injury.

He has been refused bail and is expected to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later this week.
