Police Charge Man After Mowbray Armed Robbery

A man has been charged following an alleged armed robbery at a Mowbray business yesterday.

Police were called to the business on Vermont Road about 11am Monday (10 August) after reports a man had threatened staff while in possession of a pocket knife.

Nobody was physically injured, and the man reportedly fled the scene on foot prior to police being called.

Today, a 27-year-old Mayfield man was arrested and charged with armed robbery.

He was further charged with two counts of stealing in relation to thefts from two separate businesses in Launceston last month.

He will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on 14 October.
