Police Charge Man After Police Operation At Gulgong

A man has been charged following a police operation in the state’s west.

About 5pm yesterday (Thursday 7 November 2024), police attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended a unit on White Street, Gulgong, to arrest a 43-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant for alleged domestic-violence related offences.

A police operation commenced when the man refused to come out of the unit, with the assistance of specialist police including Police Negotiators and Tactical Operations Regional Support.

About 10pm, police gained access to the unit and the man was arrested without incident.

He was taken to Mudgee Police Station where he was charged with:

– assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV),

– possess unauthorised prohibited firearm,

– possess unauthorised firearm,

– possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority,

– not keep firearm safely – not pistol/prohibited firearm, and

– not keep firearm safely – prohibited firearm.

The 43-year-old man was refused bail to appear before Mudgee Local Court today (Friday 8 November 2024).
