A man has been charged following a pursuit in Sydney’s east overnight.
About 2am today (Sunday 6 September 2026), police attempted to speak to a man who was allegedly behaving aggressively on Gould Street, Bondi Beach.
When police approached the man, he entered a grey sedan and drove away.
A short time later, police located the vehicle on Campbell Parade, near Hall Street.
When it failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued through O’Donnell Street, North Bondi, where the vehicle came to stop and the driver – a 21-year-old man – was arrested.
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with:
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly
- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- Use offensive language in/near public place/school
- Proceed through red traffic light (not toll booth)
- Not remove ignition key (vehicle unattended)
- Not lock doors secure windows (vehicle unattended)
- Park so as to obstruct vehicles/pedestrians
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Waverley Local Court on Tuesday 22 September 2026.
