Police charge man after road rage in Flemington

Police have charged a man following an alleged road rage incident in Flemington today.

It’s believed a white cash logistics vehicle was driving on Racecourse Road and proceeding to turn into a shopping centre carpark when a red hatchback allegedly nearly collided with the white vehicle on Friday, 3 December about 1.05pm.

The driver of the red hatchback then allegedly approached the white vehicle and remonstrated with the driver before allegedly using a hammer to smash the driver’s side window and front windscreen.

The driver of the hatchback then allegedly returned to the boot of his car. The cash logistics driver has then drawn but not discharged his legally issued firearm before the driver of the hatchback allegedly fled the scene in his vehicle.

The driver and passenger of the cash logistics vehicle weren’t physically injured.

A 64-year-old Kensington man was arrested after he presented himself to a police station.

He was charged with criminal damage, unlawful assault and assault with weapon. He was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 3 May.
