Police Charge Man After Shooting At Menindee

A man will face court charged following an alleged public place shooting in the state’s west last month.

Whilst conducting inquiries into a series of incidents in Menindee, police commenced an investigation into an alleged public place shooting about 11pm on Saturday 8 November 2025.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District attended and were told four people were in a vehicle in Menindee when they heard a firearm allegedly being discharged.

No injuries were reported.

Following inquiries, about 9.15pm on Tuesday 16 December 2025, officers executed a Firearms Prohibition Search at an address on Bear Street, Menindee, where they allegedly located and seized ammunition.

A crime scene was established at the Bear Street address and forensic examinations were conducted.

About 12pm yesterday (Wednesday 17 December 2025), a 50-year-old man was arrested at a unit in Broken Hill.

He was taken to Broken Hill Police Station where he was charged with five offences:

– Fire firearm manner likely injure persons or property

– Use unauthorised firearm

– Possess ammunition w/o holding licence or permit or authority

– Stalk or intimidate intend fear physical etc harm; and,

– Acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order.

The man was refused bail to appear at Local Bail Division – Court 4 today (Thursday 18 December 2025).
