Police Charge Man After Unit Fire – Carramar

A man has been charged following a unit fire in Sydney’s south west overnight.

Just after 11.45pm yesterday (Sunday 16 August 2026), emergency services were called to River Avenue, Carramar, following reports of a unit fire.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command attended the scene and located a unit block well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews extinguished the blaze and residents were evacuated.

No injuries were reported.

A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 1am today (Monday 17 August 2026), police arrested a 38-year-old man on Crossman Lane, Carramar.

He was taken to Cabramatta Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire.

The 38-year-old man was refused bail to appear before Fairfield Local Court today.
