Police charge man after vehicle and tool theft in Wentworthville

A man will appear in court today, charged with stealing and motor vehicle offences in Wentworthville last week.

Police will allege between 5.50pm and 8pm on Tuesday 3 November 2020, two men broke into a home on Essington Street, Wentworthville, before stealing keys and a Toyota Hilux.

Shortly after, the Hilux was sighted on Champness Crescent, St Marys, where two men were observed unloading power tools from the vehicle onto a trolley.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were alerted and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, around 1.55pm yesterday (Friday 6 November 2020), a search warrant was executed

at a unit on Glossop Street, St Marys, and a 33-year-old man was arrested.

Upon searching the unit, police seized a large number of power and hand tools.

The man was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and larceny.

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 7 November 2020).
