Police charge man after Warnbro hit and run crash

Major Crash Investigation Section officers have charged a man as a result of their investigation into an alleged ‘hit and run’ crash in Warnbro on Wednesday 23 February 2022, in which a police officer was seriously injured.

About 6.10pm, a male Senior Constable from the Traffic Enforcement Group was conducting traffic duties on Holcombe Road, near the intersection of Currie Street, when he attempted to stop a motorcycle.

It is alleged the officer was struck by the motorcycle and received serious injuries. The motorcycle rider failed to stop and assist the injured officer. The injured officer was taken to Royal Perth Hospital by St John Ambulance for treatment of his injuries.

A 36-year-old man from Warnbro has been charged with:-

• Aggravated Dangerous Driving Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm;

• Fail to Stop and Render Assistance at an Incident Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm;

• Fail to Report an Incident Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm; and

• No Authority to Drive (Disqualified).

He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, 26 February 2022.
