Police charge man following fatal collision at Anakie

Major Collision Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision which occurred in Anakie on 28 January.

It is alleged a Toyota Avalon was travelling east on De Motts Road when it was hit head-on by a Holden Commodore station wagon travelling west at about 12.40pm.

The driver of the Toyota, an 81-year-old man from Meredith, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

His passenger, a 76-year-old woman from Meredith, died at the scene.

A 40-year-old Corio man was arrested today and charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving causing death, dangerous driving causing serious injury, unlicensed driving, negligently cause serious injury and commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

He will appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court today.
