Police charge man over alleged sexual abuse of a young relative in Western Sydney

A man will face court today charged over the alleged sexual abuse of a young relative in Sydney’s west earlier this month.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a six-year-old girl had been sexually abused by a male relative.

The child was taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead for treatment and examination.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 27-year-old man at a home at Kingswood about 9.45am yesterday (Tuesday 19 March 2019).

He was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse with child under the age of 10 years and four counts of intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years.

Police will allege in court that that the man sexually assaulted and sexually touched the young girl while he was staying at the family’s Western Sydney home on Sunday 10 March 2019.

The man was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court later today (Wednesday 20 March 2019).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
