Police charge man over carjacking in South Coast

A man has been charged after an alleged carjacking on the state’s south coast yesterday.

About 10pm (Monday 9 December 2019), a woman got in her vehicle parked on the Princes Highway at Ulladulla, when she was approached by a man who got in the passenger’s seat.

The man demanded the woman start to drive; however, she fled from the vehicle and notified police of the incident. The man drove off.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District commenced an investigation and located the vehicle on Blackburn Road at Kings Point.

The man was found sleeping on the road nearby and was arrested and taken to Ulladulla Police Station.

He was charged with destroy or damage property and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

The man was refused bail and is due to face Nowra Local court today (Tuesday 10 December 2019).
