A man has been charged after allegedly threatening a woman with knives in the state’s north-east on the weekend.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District were called to a home on Robert Street, South Tamworth, about 12pm on Sunday 23 August 2026, with reports of a concern for welfare.
Police arrived and were told a woman in her 60s had been allegedly threatened by a 35-year-old man – who is known to her – while armed with two knives.
Officers – with assistance from the Dog Unit – located and arrested the 35-year-old man inside the home after he allegedly refused to come out.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station, where he was charged with five offences,
- Armed with intent commit indictable offence
- Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic) (two counts)
- Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Personal), and
- Destroy or damage property (DV).
He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 5 on Sunday 24 August 2026, where he was formally refused bail to reappear before Tamworth Local Court on Tuesday 1 September 2026.
