Police charge man over historic child sexual assaults in Brookvale

A man has been charged over historic child sexual assaults on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

In 2018, a report was made to officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command alleging the historic sexual assaults.

The assaults allegedly occurred at a high school in Brookvale between 1969 and 1976, where the man worked as a teacher.

It will be alleged in court that the man assaulted a male student at the school, when the boy was aged between 11 and 17 years.

Following investigations, about 10.40am today (Monday 20 May 2019), officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended an aged care facility in Kiama and arrested an 83-year-old man.

The man was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with two counts of buggery, eight counts of assault male, two counts of act of indecency with male, and one count of commit act of indecency.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 30 July 2019.
