Police charge man over incidents at Somerset

Police have charged a man with multiple offences in relation to several incidents in Somerset yesterday.

Police will allege that at approximately 10am in the Somerset area, a man assaulted two elderly men and demanded cash from one of them.

It is also alleged that the man walked into a Somerset supermarket and demanded cash from staff, without success.

It is further alleged that the man then attempted to steal two occupied vehicles.

It is believed the incidents occurred within a 15-minute time period.

A 29-year-old man was located near the scene by police who placed him into custody without incident.

He has been charged with one count of Common Assault, two counts of Attempted Robbery, two counts of Attempted Carjacking, and one count of Destroy Property.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the Somerset area around 10am yesterday and witnessed any of the incidents.
