Police charge man over role in man’s death in Sydney

Detectives investigating the death of a man in hospital at the weekend have charged another man over his alleged role.

About 1am on Sunday (1 October 2023), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were called to St Vincent’s Hospital, following the death of a man.

The 21-year-old man was reportedly treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at a hotel on George Street, Sydney, before being transferred to hospital, where he died.

Detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Following inquiries, investigators arrested a 23-year-old man at Sydney Airport about 4.20pm yesterday (Monday 2 October 2023).

During a search of the man, police located and seized $13,535 in cash to undergo forensic examination.

He was taken to Mascot Police Station, where he was charged with supply self-administered prohibited drug cause etc death, and deal with property proceeds of crime less than $100,000.

The Victorian man was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court today (Tuesday 3 October 2023), where he was formally bail refused to reappear at the same court on Thursday 30 November 2023.

Investigations are continuing.
