Police Charge Man Over Stolen Vehicle Collision In Lara

Geelong Divisional Response Unit detectives have charged a man following a head-on collision in Lara on Tuesday morning.

Police were investigating an aggravated burglary in Newcomb just after 7am where an MG was stolen.

The stolen vehicle was involved in a collision with another vehicle on Forest Lane in Lara around 10.45am.

The Air Wing took up a monitoring position overhead as the vehicle travelled at high speeds northbound along Forest Road in Lara.

Emergency services attended the scene and the driver of the stolen vehicle, a 40-year-old man, was taken to hospital for observation under police guard.

The female driver of the other car was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A third vehicle was also damaged during the collision, with the male driver not injured.

The 40-year-old-man has been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, unlawful assault, reckless conduct endanger serious injury, careless driving, drive in manner dangerous, drive at speed dangerous and drive whilst disqualified.

He has been remanded to appear at the Geelong Magistrates Court on 28 July.
