Prime Taskforce detectives have this morning charged an Elwood man with 20 offences following an investigation into a series of incidents at a protest in Richmond and Hawthorn on 18 September.
Detectives allege the man threw a glass bottle directly at police officers on Burnley Street, causing injuries to two police officers.
It is also alleged the man threw rocks at police officers on Bridge Road, and also charged and knocked over another police officer and resisted arrest on Barkers Road.
Detectives executed a warrant in Elwood this morning, arresting a 52-year-old man who was subsequently charged with 20 offences, including:
4 counts of assault police
2 counts of intentionally cause injury
2 counts of recklessly cause injury
3 counts of assault with a weapon
2 counts of reckless conduct endangering serious injury
Riot
Affray
Resist police
Discharge missile
State false address
Handle stolen goods
Fail to comply with the Chief Health Officer directions
The man is expected to front the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court via video link this evening (11 November).
