Police Charge Man With Assault At Lake Illawarra

A man will appear in court today after being charged following the assault of a man inside a home south of Wollongong.

About 12pm on Sunday 28 July 2024, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were called to a premise on Lake Entrance Road, Barrack Heights, following reports a 27-year-old man had been assaulted.

Following inquiries, shortly before 11am today (Monday 12 August 2024), a 20-year-old man was arrested during a vehicle stop in North Warrawong.

He was taken to Wollongong Police Station and charged with:

  • Aggravated enter dwelling with intent to inflict actual bodily harm
  • Use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
  • Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, and
  • Use carriage service to menace/harass/offend

The man was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Monday 12 August 2024).

Police will allege in court the 20-year-old man punched the other man multiple times and brandished a 30cm knife.
