A man has been arrested following a report of suspicious behaviour at West Beach yesterday morning.
About 11.50am on Friday 19 April, police were called to an area on Military Road after reports that a young girl had been approached by a man who asked her to walk away with him. The girl’s mother intervened, and the man walked away.
The victim was not injured or threatened.
Following investigations by Western District CIB detectives, a 73-year-old Queensland man was arrested this evening, Saturday 20 April.
The arrested man was charged with attempted kidnapping. He was refused police bail and is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
