Police charge man with child exploitation material 23 October

Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a 25-year-old man with possessing child exploitation material as a result of their investigation into his online activities.

On Tuesday 21 October 2020, detectives executed a search warrant on the man’s home where they seized a mobile phone and electronic storage devices. It is alleged the items belonged to the man and analysis of the devices identified child exploitation material.

It is also alleged, between June 2019 and June 2020 the man utilised various social media applications to converse with two male teenagers prior to sending them images and videos of indecent acts being committed. It is further alleged the man knew the teenagers from his employment as a relief teacher in the Perth metropolitan area.

The 25-year-old man from Gwelup has been charged with:-

• Three counts of With Intent to Commit a Crime, Showed Offensive Material to a Child under 16 years;

• Two counts of Without Consent Distributed an Intimate Image of Another Person; and

• One count of Possessing Child Exploitation Material.

He is next due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on 19 November 2020.
