Police charge man with firearms offences after fatal shooting in Wentworthville

A man has been charged with firearms offences following investigations into the fatal shooting of a man at Wentworthville last month.

About 8pm on Monday 29 June 2020, emergency services were called to a home on Jones Street, Wentworthville, where they found a man with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police allege a man entered the home and shot the 44-year-old before fleeing.

The man died at the scene.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder and remains before the courts.

Following further inquiries by detectives from Cumberland Police Area Command, a 46-year-old man attended Penrith Police Station today (Tuesday 21 July 2020).

The Erskine Park man was charged with possess unregistered firearm – prohibited firearm, possess unauthorised firearm, and not keep firearm safely – prohibited firearm.

Police allege the man owned the firearm used in the fatal shooting.

He was refused bail and appeared in Penrith Local Court today (Tuesday 21 July 2020) where he was given bail to appear in the same court on 11 August 2020.
