Police charge man with indecently recording child

On 7 October 2023, police received a report that a male person was recording children and women without their knowledge at a park on Oceanside Promenade in Mullaloo.

Officers from Hillarys Police Station attended and spoke to the man before seizing his mobile phone. A preliminary digital forensic examination was done on the phone and it was identified a female teenager had been filmed.

Child Abuse Squad detectives took carriage of the investigation and a 42-year-old man was arrested.

It will be alleged the man filmed the buttocks and genital area of a 13-year-old girl whilst she was at a shop in Beldon.

The 42-year-old man from Mount Tarcoola has been charged with:

• Indecently Record a Child over 13 years and under 16 years.

He is due to appear before the Joondalup Magistrates Court on 8 December 2023.
