Police charge man with offences against children

Busselton Detectives have charged a 26-year-old man as a result of their investigation into alleged child sexual abuse incidents.

It is alleged in 2017 the man sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl. It is further alleged in 2019 he utilised social media applications to expose another 14-year-old girl to indecent material.

It is also alleged the man met the victims during his involvement with basketball as he was a player, coach and umpire.

The man from Nannup has been charged with:-

• Eight counts of Sexual Penetration of a Child 13 to 16 years;

• One count of Attempt Sexual Penetration of a Child 13 to 16 years; and

• One count of Use Electronic Communication to Expose Indecent Matter to a Child under 16 years.

He is next due to appear before the Busselton Magistrates Court on 27 August 2020.
