Banyule-Nillumbik Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged two teenagers following the alleged assault of a rideshare driver in Lower Plenty last month.
It is understood the driver, a 39-year-old Doncaster man, accepted a rideshare job from a residential address in Warrandyte about 2.30pm on 17 May.
Investigators have been told the ride was cancelled by the driver a short time later, and the four male passengers were dropped off Main Road in Lower Plenty.
After exiting the vehicle, police will allege two of the males assaulted the driver before fleeing the scene on foot.
The man sustained a broken nose, facial swelling and bruising which required hospital admission.
Today, detectives arrested an 18-year-old Reservoir man and a 17-year-old male from the Darebin area.
The 18-year-old was charged with affray and bailed to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 4 August.
The 17-year-old was charged with intentionally cause injury and affray and was bailed to appear before a children’s court at a later date.
